RAIPUR: As life in Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu slowly comes back to normal, help is pouring in from across the country in the form of volunteers, medicinal aid, food and clothing. Students of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur, through their CSR club Kartavya, also did their bit by teaming up with the Rotary Club of Raipur Cosmopolitan and NGO Goonj, for a collection campaign.
The campaign, titled Raahat aims to collect essentials for those affected by the Chennai floods.
Over two days, December 12 and 13, the students will be collecting things like good quality blankets, mosquito nets, bed sheets, curtains, household necessities like toiletries, utensils, buckets, water purification tablets, clothing, tarpaulin, ropes etc from Raipurites for Chennai’s flood victims. “Coming together for our people is our responsibility and its a necessary initiative for which everyone should contribute. I have some old but usable stuff sorted out to donate. Ever since the calamity started, I have been looking up ways to reach out and help. I came across the initiative, Rahaat on a social networking site and I’m looking forward to contribute as much as I can,” says Richa Singh, a third year student and contributor to the campaign.
Adding to that, Nachiket Upadhyay, a 25-year-old working professional, says, “It’s the least we can do for the people suffering in Chennai. I have spent my college life in the Chennai SRM campus. Watching the city in such a bad phase is painful. I’m definitely contributing to the campaign as much as I can. It is a much needed and appreciable effort.”
